Christmas Eve is a day that comes before Christmas day, Christmas Eve day is celebrated in many countries worldwide. this is a Christian observance that celebrates Christmas eve on December 24 said to the Gregorian calendar.  This day is very special for Christian because it gives a good moon on Christmas day. 

 

History of the Christmas Eve

 

Christmas Eve is also called a Vigil Christmas, and that can be perceived as one of the advent seasons of the year. Christmas Eve comes before the day of Christmas Day and that can be associated with the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, although the actual birth of Jesus is disputed among many scholars. However, In many different Christmas traditions now today there were have roots in Christian winter festivals. These can include the importance of endless decorations made from evergreen bushes and trees, symbolizing everlasting light and life.  

 

We know that in Roman times a mid-winter festival was held. This is a season of relaxing and having a lot of Christmas parties and making a Christmas merry It was also common to give other people small gifts such as dolls for children and candles for adults. This festival is shown with the winter solstice that is coming on December 25 in a Roman Calender. 

 

What people can do on this day:

 

Everyone can celebrate Christmas in different ways these celebration is observed in many countries. Workers in some countries can day off or have a half-day off to prepare for the whole Christmas Day they can also include last-minute shopping or last-minute presents. In some countries, Christmas Eve is celebrated in large family meals featuring traditional Christmas dishes. In some of the traditions, they can exchange gifts and open on the night of Christmas Eve. many homes have their Christmas trees in up, tradition, and other Christmas decorations, such as holly and ivy, and that is at this time of year. 

 

Some of the people and organizations of the groups of singers go Christmas caroling from door to door or sing Christmas carols in public venues. It is also a time for children in many countries around the world to hang their Christmas stockings, hoping for a present to arrive from Santa Claus. Children in France set up their shoes near a fireplace on Christmas Eve because they believe that Father Christmas, also known as le Pere Noel, will arrive before dawn and these can be filled up with nuts, sweets, and toys.

 

Many of the churches have some special services during Christmas Eve. including midnight services. These services can include special choirs and sermons in the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. Many churches also display a creche or miniature Nativity score. Christmas celebrations in different countries combine the country’s cultural, traditional, beliefs, and superstitions with more and more contemporary customs such as Santa Claus and Christmas trees. 

 

Public life in this Christmas Eve:

 

Some of the stores are often open late to accommodate last-minute Christmas shopping in some cities around the world. Schools and educational institutions are usually closed on Christmas Eve as it falls as part of either the winter or summer vacation period. Airport, bus stations, and train stations may be busy as many people travel to visit their families around this time of year.

We found that since pagan times it was customary to decorate with greenery on festivals, especially with holly, ivy. After some of the debates, the church authorities permitted it to be done on Christmas festivals at least from the early seventh century in England. Holly is associated with good and evil or male and female and so were often combined. Some of the images of Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas, snowmen, reindeer, and candy canes are seen in the cards, posters, signs, and other printed or marketing material that was associated with the Christmas celebration. There are images of baby Jesus, the Christmas star, and many more things associated with the religious meaning of Christmas that are also seen during Christmas Eve.

In the Christmas season, there was one special and unique Christmas decoration in Ireland is one large candle that is placed at the house or in the window. this candle can be lit by the youngest child on the day of Christmas Eve. this is a symbol of the holly family and they can be only extinguished by the young girl or a woman named Mary.
